EMP Rotomoulage: Two warehouses

Flexible solution implemented quickly

Quickly increase warehouse space for companies on a growth trajectory

Herchenbach built two Safe+ cold storage units for EMP Rotomoulage. The plastics and metal processor manufactures high-quality products using rotational molding. Demand is high.

  • EMP Rotomoulage now has almost 1,000 m² more storage space available thanks to the new lightweight buildings.
  • Materials and goods are stored protected from the weather and theft.
  • Only a few weeks passed between the initial cost estimate and the signing of the contract.
  • Three months elapsed from order placement to installation.

EMP Rotomoulage offers the entire value chain for customized products. To better meet the needs of its steadily growing customer base, owner William Digne adapted his production lines and invested in a heavy-duty rotomoulage machine.

To install the equipment at the Dol-de-Bretagne headquarters, alternative storage solutions had to be implemented quickly and flexibly for the existing material and goods warehouse. William Digne found a company in Herchenbach that responded immediately and submitted a proposal that perfectly met EMP Rotomoulage's needs.

Lightweight hall from Herchenbach
  • Herchenbach constructed two unheated storage halls for EMP Rotomoulage. Trapezoidal sheet metal walls were installed within the robust aluminum profiles. The roof is made of a high-tensile-strength industrial textile.
  • Herchenbach builds halls with a clear span of between 5 and 40 meters. The hall length is freely selectable according to customer requirements. Eave heights between 3.4 and 6.4 meters are offered. The construction of double-bay halls is also possible.
  • Depending on the local wind and snow loads, various aluminum profiles are available, spaced at truss intervals of 4 or 5 meters.
  • Over 500 structural analyses of halls are already available and can be implemented directly. This allows the lightweight halls to be flexibly configured to meet customer specifications.

EMP Rotomoulage
  • EMP Rotomoulage designs and manufactures custom-made plastic parts in Brittany, France. Using rotational molding, hollow bodies of varying sizes and geometries, from the simplest to the most complex shapes, can be produced. A particular strength is the production of monoblock hollow bodies ranging in size from 1 to 20,000 liters.
  • With over 30 years of experience, EMP has mastered all rotational molding techniques. Its integrated design office, product designer, and boiler shop provide the company with considerable flexibility.
  • The EMP production facility near Saint-Malo is one of the most modern and innovative factories in France. From there, EMP ships more than 125,000 products annually to over 10 European countries, overseas, and to Africa.
For EMP, finding a fast and cost-effective warehousing solution was extremely important. Our financial flexibility and short response times were key to these two buildings.

Key Account Management
Safe+
  • With a frame made of durable aluminum profiles and a textile roof of high-quality industrial PVC, the cold storage building is the ideal storage solution for temperature-insensitive goods.
  • The Herchenbach modular system allows for clear spans of up to 40 m. The building length is flexibly configured to meet customer requirements. Multi-bay buildings can also be constructed.
Trapezoidal sheet metal
  • The trapezoidal sheet metal wall cladding is durable and cost-effective. It is offered in white aluminum as standard, but can be supplied in various RAL colors upon request.
  • Trapezoidal sheet metal requires little maintenance. Individual panels can be easily replaced. It provides optimal weather and theft protection in rain, frost, and harsh coastal air.
Sliding gate
  • The sliding doors are made from the same trapezoidal sheet metal as the warehouse. They offer customers a simple and easy-to-install door solution for storing temperature-insensitive goods.
  • To open, the door slides parallel to the warehouse wall. This not only saves space but, thanks to the guide rail mounted at the top, also ensures barrier-free access. Wide openings are possible.

The solution: Adapted for the location

Smooth workflow thanks to precise knowledge of the processes

Through close collaboration between company owner William Digne and Herchenbach sales representative Vincent Paradis, an optimal and cost-effective warehouse solution was developed. Instead of one large lightweight building, two smaller ones were constructed. One is used for storing raw materials, the other for storing goods. Optimally positioned on the company premises, they offer ideal conditions for a smooth workflow.

  • The first hall offers 412 m² of storage space with a width of 7.5 m, a length of 55 m, and a height of 3.4 m.
  • The second hall provides 525 m² of space with a width of 15 m, a length of 35 m, and a height of 3.4 m.
  • In both cases, a 5 m spacing between the aluminum profiles was chosen.

EMP's headquarters are just a few minutes' drive from the sea. The structural design of the Herchenbach modular building system is adapted to the prevailing wind and snow loads, making assembly simple and cost-effective even near the coast.

The building was anchored with ground anchors. Because aluminum buildings are significantly lighter than steel buildings while maintaining high stability, construction without a foundation is often possible. This saves approximately four weeks of construction time. Existing ground was also utilized for the EMP building.

Herchenbach offers its warehouses not only for sale but also for rent. For companies, this means they can use the lightweight structures immediately without a large upfront investment and only pay for as long as they actually need the additional storage space.

However, it wasn't just the product that impressed EMP Rotomoulage. William Digne particularly emphasized the planning and construction process: A personal contact from Herchenbach guides the company through all phases of the lightweight warehouse construction. With the "full-service package," services such as assistance with the building permit application can be easily added. This makes warehouse construction not only fast but also simple.
