Warehouse for Wasem Logistics

Logistics service provider expands warehouse

Special fire protection, matching appearance: 2400 m² lightweight warehouse

Whether it's transport to or from the warehouse, raw material storage, or the accommodation of finished products – Wasem Logistik GmbH offers a wide range of logistics solutions from a single source. This is in demand. To handle additional customer orders, the company needed more warehouse space. Therefore, a lightweight logistics warehouse from Herchenbach was fitted into a gap in the existing building line on the company premises in Kaiserslautern. These were the requirements:

  • Cost-effectiveness: Herchenbach's lightweight warehouses are quick to erect; assembling a 1000 m² warehouse takes approximately one week. A 2400 m² warehouse was built for Wasem in a short time. Thanks to the modular construction, these warehouses are also significantly cheaper than comparable steel buildings.
  • Insulation: During the colder months, the warehouse should be able to be kept frost-free with minimal effort. This not only allows for the storage of temperature-sensitive goods, but also makes it easier to achieve the minimum temperatures required for order picking.
  • Fire protection: The new building will fill a gap in the company's construction site. Due to the construction on the existing structure, special fire protection measures are necessary. Herchenbach offers a "hard roof" for its lightweight buildings. It is approved under fire safety regulations and protects against flying sparks.
  • Condensation protection: To ensure the safe storage of even moisture-sensitive goods, an additional inner liner was installed beneath the roof tarpaulin. This allows moisture to diffuse outwards.
  • Appearance: Herchenbach offers insulated panels in standard grey-white or aluminum-white. However, other RAL colors are also available upon request. To better integrate the building into its surroundings, Wasem Logistik GmbH chose an anthracite grey.
Lightweight warehouse from Herchenbach
  • Herchenbach's lightweight warehouses are constructed using a modular system of aluminum profiles. The warehouses are certified for service lives of up to 50 years.
  • The walls consist of robust trapezoidal sheet metal or insulated panels with excellent thermal transmittance. A highly tear-resistant industrial PVC roofing membrane is installed, which, as a "hard roof," also meets stringent fire protection requirements.
  • Herchenbach constructed a lightweight warehouse for Wasem Logistik-GmbH with a clear span of 25 m and a length of 96.5 m. This provided a total usable area of approximately 2,400 m².

Can be used as floor/shelf storage storage

Optimal planning with Herchenbach as a "full-service provider"

Wasem connected the lightweight hall to the existing building via a tunnel, enabling optimal operational processes. All work can be carried out in dry conditions. Currently, the hall is used for floor storage. However, Wasem has already considered further potential uses. Anchoring a lightweight hall without a foundation is generally possible using cost-effective ground anchors. In this case, the company opted for a concrete slab. This allows for the future installation of shelving in the hall, which has a side height of 6.40 m and a clear working height of 6.20 m.

The hall was configured in a joint consultation with a sales representative, who will be the company's personal contact until project handover. At the customer's request, he develops the ideal hall solution from the flexibly combinable modular system, which is individually adapted to the storage and logistics needs as well as the local conditions. Even after handover, Herchenbach customer service remains available to answer questions, for example, regarding expansions.
