Warehouse for DB Schenker
Logistics company urgently needed more space
Time is the crucial factor. DB Schenker urgently needed more covered storage space at its Hildesheim location. The existing hall was no longer sufficient. They opted for a lightweight hall from Herchenbach to ensure quick access to materials.
The modular hall was erected quickly. It was built at the location best suited to the company's operational processes. "We needed the hall quickly, and Herchenbach implemented the project perfectly," says Markus Vollmer, Head of Plant Engineering. Even with the new building, the company remains flexible. The hall is leased and will be dismantled once its use is complete.
DB Schenker fills repackaged goods from overseas for a customer at its Hildesheim site. Previously, the empty containers were stored in a separate hall. Business for the customer is booming. "With increasing volume, storage at the previous location became unmanageable," explains the head of plant engineering. The new lightweight hall now offers more space to store the containers before they go into production.
Weather protection for wood and plastic
The goods for which the new hall is needed are primarily plastic and wooden containers. The hall provides weather protection for these items. Furthermore, the wood can be stored dry. The empty containers are not sensitive to temperature, so insulation of the hall was not required.
Renting a warehouse: The Safe&Fast process
To maintain flexibility, DB Schenker has leased the lightweight hall. To enable customers to use the hall immediately without waiting for a building permit, Herchenbach offers the Safe&Fast process.
If the building permit is granted, the hall could be used 3 to 6 months earlier. In the unlikely event that a building permit is not granted, Herchenbach will dismantle the hall at no cost to the customer.
