H+S Automotive manufactures plastic parts for companies in the industrial, automotive, medical, agricultural, and housing technology sectors. Their small and medium-sized production runs, manufactured individually to customer specifications in Ittlingen (Baden-Württemberg), are in high demand. So much so, in fact, that the company has built an additional warehouse.

They urgently needed a building for storing very bulky plastic parts, protected from the elements. The company opted for a lightweight building from Herchenbach.

"Herchenbach's buildings made the best impression on me in terms of stability and construction," explains Managing Director Reinhard Schirk. "But what really convinced us was the hard roof. The new building was to be located very close to the existing one, and the hard roof, with its enhanced fire protection, makes that possible."

Fire protection for plastic warehouses

Plastic storage facilities must meet specific fire safety guidelines. Herchenbach offers patented solutions for the plastics industry in its lightweight warehouses.

Smoke and heat exhaust

For smoke extraction from the hall in case of fire, Herchenbach offers a patented smoke and heat exhaust system. The smoke and heat exhaust vents are certified according to DIN EN 12101-2 and are integrated into the roof membrane.

Hard roofing

For construction on existing buildings, the "hard roofing" is permitted under building regulations for lightweight halls. It is additionally coated with a special fiberglass fleece, making it resistant to heat and sparks.

  • Herchenbach constructed a hall for H+S Automotive measuring 25 meters wide and 40 meters long. The walls of the Therm+ hall are insulated and offer excellent thermal transmittance.
  • A roller door on each gable end and one on the side wall ensure optimal workflow.
  • An additional fiberglass fleece is integrated into the roof, meeting fire safety requirements for a hard roof and protecting against fire spread and sparks. An additional inner liner protects the stored goods from condensation.
