Inside Sales & Business Development Representative UK (100% Remote)

As an Inside Sales & Business Development Representative at Herchenbach, you will be the first point of contact for project inquiries from new and existing customers from a wide range of industries, logistics and specialisations. After you have gained a comprehensive picture of the type, scope and specific needs of the enquiry, you will qualify and categorize the real opportunity based on our defined criteria. As soon as all requirements, specifications and individual circumstances are known, you will coordinate visits between the customer's contact persons, and your colleagues in the field, then prepare a clean handover internally. In the area of business development and new customer acquisition, you will focus on the structured search, identification, approach, retention and consultation of potential B2B new customers and their contact persons at decision-making level. You will be assisted by colleagues from Marketing and IT, who will support you in creating target company target lists based on predefined criteria. 

You will then research further information on the organization, structure and business environment of the companies in your target group via company databases, company websites and social and professional networks. Based on this, you identify potential contact persons, get in touch with them via different channels and thus successively build up a network of "door-openers" with potential customers.  Thanks to our modern CRM system, in which you conscientiously document all interactions, activities and information, you will always maintain an overview, even with parallel projects at different stages.

In this role, we would like to see someone with at least some experience in direct customer contact, preferably in a B2B environment. In our view, you do not necessarily have to have gained this experience in a directly comparable field of activity. Other previous relevant experience and transferable skills would also be considered, e.g. in the areas of customer consulting, customer service, sales, internal sales, account management, dialog marketing, tele sales, call centre, coaching, research / market research, social research or financial consulting.

In short a confident and professional appearance and very good language skills in business-fluent English are essential. Knowledge of German is an advantage, but not a prerequisite. In addition, we feel that you would thrive within the role with some analytical thinking skills, a structured and conscientious way of working and a healthy portion of improvisation and entrepreneurial talent with those unforeseen situations. Your tasks

  • As the first point of contact for incoming inquiries from prospective and existing customers from our English-speaking markets, you will advise on our product and service portfolio, work out customer-specific requirements and needs, and in the process qualify the specific inquiries according to defined classifications.
  • In cases where several appointments are necessary for further consulting, you will independently determine a customer-specific follow-up strategy. In the further course of the consultation, you clarify all fundamentally relevant questions and hand over the inquiry to the field service after qualification is completed (including coordination of an on-site appointment).
  • In the areas of new customer acquisition and business development, you will regularly research target company lists of potential customers based on defined criteria such as size, organizational form, orientation and industry, with a changing project focus, and subsequently identify possible contact persons at decision-making level.
  • By approaching, consulting and retaining the pre-identified contact persons via telephone, e-mail, digital media, social and professional networks or trade events, you will proactively pursue a continuous network development and expansion, thereby increasing the level of awareness of our brand in the markets for which you are responsible.
  • In the course of your activities, you will develop an in-depth understanding of customer-specific needs and structures, enabling you to generate medium- to long-term business opportunities based on specific use cases.
  • You will organize and document all your activities in our CRM and ERP system.
  • Occasionally participate in special projects such as customer satisfaction surveys, data updates, information campaigns on special promotions, etc..

Your profile

  • Successfully completed commercial or technical education and / or further education, alternatively a degree in any field.
  • Experience in direct customer contact, preferably in a B2B environment (e.g. in the fields of inside sales, customer service, customer consulting, account management, aftersales, sales assistance, dialog marketing, tele sales, call centre, market research, etc.). People who have only gained such experience in the context of training, internships, part-time jobs or as working students are also expressly invited to apply.
  • Strong communication skills in business fluent and eloquent English. Knowledge of German is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
  • Very good knowledge of MS-Office, desirably first contact with a CRM, ERP and / or merchandise management system as well as a generally high affinity for digital tools and processes.
  • A confident manner, quick comprehension, pronounced empathy, enjoyment of success as well as the will to continuously develop professionally and personally in a performance-oriented but familiar environment.
